Over 700 primary school students from Canberra and the region attended the annual Government House Children's Christmas Party yesterday.
Governor-General Quentin Bryce could be found high-fiving and chatting to students while they enjoyed the rides and had their faces painted.
Campbell Primary School students gave Ms Bryce a Christmas present to thank her for the great day. ''We gave her flowers and chocolates to thank her for inviting us to this awesome party,'' year 6 student Elisabeth Dykstra said.
Santa made an appearance and was greeted at his navy helicopter by more than 1100 guests singing Jingle Bells.
