Hot air balloon rides, sheep shearing, vintage car rides, jumping castles and a petting zoo - and more than 1100 guests singing Jingle Bells to wish local kids a Merry Christmas.

Over 700 primary school students from Canberra and the region attended the annual Government House Children's Christmas Party yesterday.

Governor-General Quentin Bryce could be found high-fiving and chatting to students while they enjoyed the rides and had their faces painted.
