A 25-year-old Gilmore woman has been charged with burglary and motor vehicle theft after a police investigation into a spate of car thefts and aggravated burglaries throughout July.

ACT Policing's Criminal Investigations Team executed a search warrant on Friday, July 31. They said they identified and seized items that had been stolen from a series of vehicle break-ins.
The woman who was charged was bailed and is expected to face court in August.
There has been an 80 per cent increase in thefts from motor vehicles in Canberra, with almost 850 thefts occurring in the past three months.
Belconnen, Braddon and Calwell recorded the highest number of incidents.
Police are at a loss to explain the huge jump in car break-ins but said the arrest provided a timely reminder for the public to ensure that no valuable belongings are left in their motor vehicles.
They should also be adequately locked when parked during the day or evening.
