The advertisements come just weeks after the near-empty headquarters of spy agency ASIO in Russell lost yet another glass panel after a delayed construction of the $700 million building.

The request for tender, which was published on Monday, briefs a contractor to inspect the marble cladding around the R3 and R4 buildings and install replacement panels where necessary.

According to tender documents, the marble cladding has cracked and bowed over time due to movements between the stone and the structure and exposure to heat.

Problems were first observed in the buildings' exteriors a few years after their construction in 1965.

Remedial works were carried out in 1974 and in 1998 as part of a major refurbishment of the buildings, and possibly since.

"Previous remedial works have sought to address the first of these issues, that of the imposed structural loads, but have not addressed the deformation of the panels which have continued to bow and warp," read the tender document.

"Inadequate provision was made in the original structure to accommodate building movement – including concrete shrinkage – leading to the imposition of building structural loads on the cladding panels.

"An inherent, but at the time of construction not understood, characteristic of the cladding stone used which can, under certain circumstances (still not fully understood), change shape developing bows or warps."

The three month contract is expected pay between $500,000 and $600,000 dollars with applications set to close on February 16.
