The spokesperson said firefighters had estimated the fire was three hectares in size.
The fire alert level is still set at 'advice' and the railway remains closed.
Fire fighters from the ACT and NSW RFS remained at the scene at 3.45pm mopping up, and were expected to be there for some time.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A second fire also burnt nearby, on Powell Drive in Carwoola. It was reported at 2.40pm and two fire crews quickly brought it under control.
It burnt less than one hectare and the cause is unknown at this stage.
