Industry and government representatives gathered in Belconnen for the industry launch of Green Star – Communities, which will benchmark community developments against the categories of liveability, economic prosperity, environment, design, governance, and innovation.
GBCA Chief Executive Romilly Madew said the tool would encourage sustainability and support the planning, design and delivery of communities that prioritise environmental viability.
"We now have a practical, holistic rating system able to transform the talk about the future of our communities into actions and results," Ms Madew said.
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Anthony Albanese will make the official ministerial launch of Green Star – Communities at the Built Environment Meets Parliament conference later this month.
