A NGUNNAWAL man is in custody after being charged with drug and firearms offences after he was refused bail at the ACT Magistrates Court yesterday.
Police allegedly found methamphetamine, three unlicensed guns and $123,854 in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime in Daniel Austin Slater's Bambir Square home.
He will face court again on Tuesday.
Police searched the home at 5.20am Friday and one officer, Constable Brett Katz, yesterday told the court they found the cash and guns inside pillow cases and a vacuum sealed bag in a cavity in the bathroom.
A handwritten note allegedly found with the bag of drugs said: ''Please don't go through the bag if you find it.'' The note encouraged the potential finder to call the owner.
A small amount of the cash, made up of six bundles of $500 totalling $3000, was found in a man's jacket inside the house.
Slater has been charged with trafficking a controlled drug other than cannabis and possessing one firearm without authorisation.
Constable Katz told the court police expected to charge Slater with more offences.
One of the firearms, a 0.38 Smith and Wesson revolver, was loaded with six bullets.
Police said none of the firearms - which also included a Samson .22 calibre bolt-action pistol and another revolver - were stored in a gun cabinet.
Police said they seized various substances suspected to be cannabis, MDMA, LSD, steroids, valium and other prescription drugs suspected to be trafficked.
Martial arts weapons and a slingshot were also found at the home, police said in court.
Slater's legal representative argued for bail by saying he was the sole provider for his five-year-old child.
Magistrate Maria Doogan denied him bail.
''On the face of it he has a prolific criminal history,'' she said.
''It's extremely disturbing to think in this community someone is living with a loaded gun.''
