Mr Hanson's office has produced advice this morning from the Assembly Clerk's office that confirms that the Assembly's Corporate Services section approved the arrangement where Mr Hanson's wife has been using the MLA's Assembly-supplied car for several months.
Both the Clerk's office and the Speaker's office told The Canberra Times this week that no advice had been sought from Mr Hanson, but the Clerk has written to the MLA this morning confirming that advice was sought from "the appropriate officer" in the corporate services section.
The Liberals' health spokesman came under attack from arrangement this week from Labor officials who accused him of an "arrogant exploitation" of the generous car allowances that are enjoyed by MLAs. Mr Hanson shot back, accusing his opponents of "grubby tactics" and seeking to use his family for political mileage.
Mr Hanson has said several times that his arrangement has been ticked off by the assembly authorities as within the rules governing politicians' perks and entitlements.
