The ACT Rural Fire Service will burn six piles of small organic material in a cleared paddock between Lady Denman Drive and Lake Burley Griffin, east of the National Zoo and Aquarium.
Six units including 23 firefighters will conduct the burn on behalf of the National Capital Authority, an Emergency Services Agency spokesman said.
He said temporary smoke might be visible from the Tuggeranong Parkway however, every effort was made to conduct burns in weather conditions that minimised the impact of smoke.
ACT Health has advised people with asthma and other chronic respiratory and chronic cardiac diseases to avoid vigorous exercise and to stay inside if affected by the smoke.
People with asthma should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
