Ryan Jon is returning to Perth to present breakfast for radio station Hit 92.9.
Tanya Hennessy is moving from Canberra to further her phenomenal multimedia projects, including some "international opportunities", which are still under wraps.
The announcement was made during their show on Monday.
The pair have been in the breakfast chair for less than two years, taking over in January 2016, in the wake of the controversial dumping of breakfast host Scott "Scotty" Masters.
It means another search for new talent for the radio station, which finished third in the most recent ratings but which continued to dominate its key 18 to 39 demographic and attract the biggest cumulative audiences.
Canberra FM general manager Craig Wagstaff said the station did not want the pair to leave, saying they had been "fantastic" and produced world-class content.
But he accepted Canberra FM was a little like the Canberra Raiders, often grooming its talent, only for them to leave for bigger metropolitan markets.
"Absolutely, they are stars. They're great at what they do and, in many respects, Canberra is an incubator, it's a provincial market that is almost a proving ground, a feeding ground for metro stations," he said.
"They've obviously got a great future ahead of them, both of them."
It had "absolutely" been the pair's decision to leave.
"We certainly gave them the opportunity to stay here in Canberra," he said.
Mr Wagstaff said current presenters would fill in during breakfast and the new team announced "within weeks".
"At the moment we're deep into the process and within weeks of making that announcement," he said.
In the past two years, Hennessy, in particular, has seen her star rise and rise, becoming a YouTube star with her everyday makeup tutorials and "Things People Say To....." series.
Her online success has translated into financial deals with companies that sponsor her content and co-hosting The Bachelor Unpacked and The Bachelorette Unpacked.
Jon, too, created an online sensation by talking about being adopted and thanking his biological mother for giving him the gift of life.
"Our focus is for amazing content which is what they've done on-air, on ground, online, on mobile and it's because of their success that they're presented with these opportunities in bigger metro markets," Mr Wagstaff said.
"You look at what Ryan and Tanya have done with the HIT demographic, it's a great success story."
HIT 104.7 breakfast fell to fourth, behind ABC Canberra, Radio National and sister station MIX 106.3 in the latest radio ratings.
But over the year, breakfast on 104.7 has enjoyed the biggest cumulative audiences for the timeslot and attracted the most number of listeners aged 18 to 39, its target market.
HIT104.7 content director Rod Cuddihy praised the pair.
"They have entertained and informed Canberrans whilst drawing attention from around the country and the world to our amazing city," he said.
Ryan and Tanya had already been identified as talent that could extend beyond Canberra.
Hennessy told The Canberra Times: "I'm sad to leave!! I've made my best stuff here you know? "
