After a dust-off and the return of its distinctive fairy lights, the red caravan will make its debut in its new life as "BrodDog" at the Multicultural Festival on Sunday.
Owners Joelle and Sascha Brodbeck have been planning their van's rebirth since it retired from its spot in Bowen Park in 2011.
"We always knew that we were going to be doing BrodDogs, as soon as we finished Brodburger, so that's why we renovated it," Mrs Brodbeck said.
"We've been experimenting with doing gourmet hotdogs - sort of like what we do with our burgers, but with hotdogs this time."
They will introduce a small selection of their hotdogs as part of the American-themed Route 66, the latest addition to the Multicultural Festival, which will stretch from the Civic merry-go-round to London Circuit.
"We're only going to be selling … our American dogs; a New York dog, an American dog and a chilli dog," she said.
When the van finds a permanent spot - the Brodbecks are still looking for a suitable site, on private land this time - the menu will have something for everyone.
"There will be different types of sausages, we're even experimenting with a vegan hotdog … we're also doing gluten-free hotdog buns as well as an option."
If hotdogs are not your style, Canberra restaurant Smoque will be smoking ribs on site.
Route 66 will also feature a display of vintage cars and hot rods, an Elvis impersonator and rock'n'roll dancers from across the country.
