The essence of the Canberra summer, as captured by our readers, will again be splashed across the pages of The Canberra Times.
Budding snappers can again prove their worth by entering their best shots in The Canberra Times summer photo competition this year.
Last year's competition attracted a collection of stunning, fun, and sometimes wacky images that reflected all aspects of summer life in the region.
From glorious sunsets over Lake Macquarie and Wamboin, to the sun, surf, and sand of the south coast beaches, the 2011-12 collection of photos never ceased to impress.
The 2011-12 winner was Tom Corra, of Watson, who submitted a fine shot of a group fishing and drinking wine on a secluded beach near Moruya.
Second place went to Tracy Wallace, of Yass, for her photo of her kids playing under a sprinkler, while Natalie Soar, of Macgregor, took out third place for her photo of an evening waterskiing session.
For your chance to win, all you have to do is capture a ''summer moment'' and send it in to The Canberra Times.
First prize is $500, second will win $300, and third will win $200.
A selection of entries will be published in The Canberra Times and on canberratimes.com.au regularly throughout the summer holidays.
Photographers must send their snaps, attached as jpeg files, to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The images must be a minimum of 150Kb and a maximum of 1MB. There is a maximum of three photos per person.
The competition closes at 4pm on January 20.
