The capital had a taste of summer yesterday when the temperature hit 24.7 degrees in Canberra, at about 4.30pm.
If the temperature reaches the maximum forecast for today, Canberrans will experience their first 30 degree + day since February 25, when the mercury hit 31.3 degrees.
The temperature was sitting at 28.2 degrees at about 4pm.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, a high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is directing warm and humid northeasterly winds across NSW and the ACT as a trough develops over western and southern Australia.
But if you’re not ready for summer yet, don’t despair.
The trough to the west of us is expected to move over NSW from Tuesday bringing showers, storms and a cool change.
The temperature tomorrow is forecast for 29 degrees, with maximum temperatures decreasing as the week progresses.
Between Wednesday and Saturday maximum temperatures will range between 18 and 22 degrees, with rain and storms forecast until Sunday.
