ACT Fire and Rescue are investigating the roof of the four-bedroom house to check the fire did not spread.
Damage to the property is considered minimal at this stage.
Firefighters believe the fire started after broken down roof insulation was exposed to a heat source.
An ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesman said on Monday morning three fire pumpers were on scene along with the breathing apparatus van, the hazardous materials unit and two commanders.
ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics were also on scene and assessed one male patient for mild smoke inhalation.
