They set off on a 4000km run from Cooktown to Melbourne in November, collecting stories from refugees and migrants along the way.

The Canberra duo has just two weeks of the epic journey left, leaving Canberra on Thursday after a drop in at the Settlement Council of Australia and Migrant and Refugee Settlement Services of the ACT.

They run the equivalent of a marathon every day, with a few rest days thrown in.

While they had a few injuries in the training for their adventure, their bodies are holding up well.

"Every day that we run we share the story of some that has come to Australia as a refugee or migrant," Ms Cohen said.

"It's a video or a photo with a quote.

"We're just really hoping to celebrate Australia's multiculturalism and diversity."

Apart from learning a lot about Australian geography, the duo has learnt that pretty much everyone can find some common ground.

"We think with this issue it's really important that people connect with the individual," Mr Bursill said.

"I'm a strong believer that accepting refugees is a process of empathy.

"You wouldn't accept a refugee if you couldn't understand their personal situation.

"So basically you need to understand these individuals and their lives and the reason why they've come here."

Both had organised significant fundraisers before, but this time wanted to do something that focused on creating social change.

"It's one of those things, ideas build, we kind of had an idea of doing some crazy run then we added in the stories component because we thought it's something new, no one's done that before," Mr Bursill said.

"It's about confronting and grappling with the tragedy and trauma of seeking asylum."
