Fourteen kilometres east of Lake George, the turbines will be up to 110 metres high, with three 63-metre rotor blades, and will be on the properties of 25 landholders.

The Sydney-based proponents of the joint venture, EPYC Pty Ltd's Jupiter Wind Farm, say it will comprise 110 turbines, access tracks to each turbine, a substation, the on-site control building and temporary storage and concrete batching plants for the turbine footings and substation construction.

The wind farm will be in a district of small rural villages and settlements at Lake Bathurst, Tarago, Mayfield, Boro, Mount Fairy and Manar, which according to the proponents, have a combined population of less than 5000 people.

The project area is within two kilometres of 38 homes, but the turbines will not be on the boundary.

''It is EPYC's practice to attempt to incorporate properties within two kilometres into the project and project area, and where not feasible, provide alternative benefits to those landowners,'' the company says, in a preliminary document seeking NSW Planning requirements for an

environmental impact statement.

EPYC sent out 184 information packs to landowners in the area and will set up a consultation committee later this year.

Gov and Lisa Wilson, who became aware of the project in 2012 when wind-measuring equipment was set up, received one of the information packs but say it is vague.

Project manager Ibrahim Eid referred questions from the Canberra Times to a spokeswoman, who asked for written questions and is yet to respond.

The developer's document says they have started comprehensive community consultation and more will follow, including direct correspondence, door-knocking and speaking with the landowners in the area.

The developers say they would also discuss with Goulburn and Palerang councils upgrading local roads and contributing to other community infrastructure.

If approved, construction and commissioning of the $400 million wind farm would be completed by 2016.
