This time, 32 stalls will be spread across two levels of the Nishi building – the ground-level Nishi commercial foyer and an industrial space within the Hotel Hotel foyer on level one.

The markets attracted 2500 people when they were first held in September, featuring high-end, innovative Australian designs and vintage wear.

Hustle and Scout founder Tegan McAuley said the quarterly markets were about providing a true experience, and expansion was inevitable.

“Interest from the local design community has exploded since the inaugural event,” she said.

“We have so many talented creatives out there so I knew Hustle and Scout would need room to grow.”

Braddon designer Karen Lee will have a stall at the markets, showing her eponymous label of “relaxed, classic, sophisticated with a twist” pieces.

The CIT fashion graduate works out of Assemblage Project in Lonsdale Street and is thrilled to have her designs showcased in another way at the markets.

“I think the markets have done really well because it's something a little bit different, it's fashion-forward and people in Canberra are always looking for pieces that are different,” she said.

There will be lots of entertainment at the markets from 3pm to 8pm on Saturday.

Congratulations to Canberra’s James Franklin who ended up raising $25,301 for men’s health through Movember and coming in as the fourth highest individual fundraiser in Australia – all without growing a mo. His support crew, Franko’s Mo Bros, raised $31,611.

The testicular cancer survivor, who was undergoing chemotherapy during the fundraising, was astounded by the support he received.

‘‘It got a lot bigger than I ever expected,’’ he said.

Now finished his chemo, Franklin said he was ‘‘feeling really well’’ and looking forward to returning to work at the Mawson Club soon.

‘‘I’ve been out doing stuff, hoping to have a normal life. The hair is starting to grow back,’’ he said, adding he will be back for Movember next year and we look forward to seeing him with maybe a great big Hulk Hogan-style mo.

Much excitement across the road from The Canberra Times at Celestino Cafe where Anthony Mundine was spotted having lunch on Friday.

The super-fit Mundine recommended the veal penne and reckoned Canberra had come a long way since the last time he visited a few years back.

“I like it, I like the city. Fyshwick, especially, has really developed,’’ he said.

Mundine was in Canberra to support his friend, World Boxing Association vice-president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, from Panama, who is competing in an iron man event in the national capital on Sunday.

His bike unfortunately went AWOL somewhere between Panama and Australia so Mendoza quickly purchased a new Specialized Shiv from Fyshwick business The Cyclery, with co-owner Jayson Clarke saying it was good to see Mundine help out a mate.

It’s the final days to bid for a round of golf with retired Wallabies and Brumbies legend George Gregan, former All Blacks star Justin Marshall and Canberra golfer Brendan Jones.

The online auction for the package ends at 7.30pm on Tuesday and the highest bid by Friday was $4000.

The unique event will be for five people on February 6 at the Royal Canberra Golf Club.

The auction is in support of Canberra Grammar School’s Northside Early Childhood campus which Jones’ oldest son attends.

There’s no official word on how long the WIN News Hour will continue to be the “WIN News 90 Minutes’’.

It seems Channel Nine expanded its bulletin from 30 minutes to an hour during the Blue Mountain bushfires in October and hasn’t stopped, meaning WIN Local News has been bumped to 7pm. (And A Current Affair is lost in the wilderness on Gem at 7.30pm.)

We also hear that the Canberra bulletin is no longer broadcast live from Wollongong, now being pre-recorded, but none of its spokespeople have got back to us so far with any confirmation.

It’ll be a case of goodbye rather than hello Marylou when Marylou Pooley leaves the Australian War Memorial next week after more than 14 years with the revered institution.

Now head of communications and marketing at the memorial, Marylou will leave on Wednesday with a treasure trove of memories, from hosting dignitaries such as Barak Obama and Princess Mary to being in the advance car leading the convoy carrying the famous G for George Lancaster bomber as it made its way to the memorial to be installed in ANZAC Hall.

“Canberrans came out and waved to us and we headed slowly down Northbourne Avenue,’’ she remembered.

There was also the thrill of working with the team to secure the memorial a place in the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame and the many moving moments that naturally take place in such a place of reverence.

“The Remembrance Day ceremony, meeting the families – the mother and father who have come to place a poppy against the name of their own son. They then become connected with us forever and we guard the record,’’ she said.

A fifth-generation Canberran, Marylou also worked at the Public Service Board, the National Archives and at new Parliament House for a decade, where she was in charge of marketing and visitor services.

One of her duties was looking after the guides who showed the public around the House and she remembers a young Simon Corbell, now Attorney-General, working there during his uni days.

“He was our youngest guide and he was fantastic,’’ she said.

Pooley, who turns 60 next month – she shares a birthday with Elvis Presley – says she will stay in Canberra to be close to her four children and grandson. She’ll continue in some informal capacity with the tourism industry, a cause close to her heart.

“I also met my partner here at the memorial so I am indeed happy all round,’’ she said.

There was a time when whales had nothing to do with Canberra. But Skywhale has changed all that and now the organisers of Fringe 2014 are hopping on the big-mammal bandwagon.

We have been given an exclusive first-look at the poster for the left-of-centre festival which returns to Civic Square alongside the National Multicultural Festival from February 6 to 9.

Fringe director Jorian Gardner, a passionate advocate of Skywhale, designed the other flying whale for his festival with Cole Bennetts.

“As far as the logo goes, well we couldn’t let the centenary team have the flying whales all to themselves,’’ Gardner told us. “Let’s be clear – oversized flying mammals are for all Canberrans.’’

The full Fringe program will be revealed in January but we have been given a sneak peek including a cheeky “Friday night spectacular’’ directed by Gardner in collaboration with Canberra burlesque and cabaret group the Sass and Tease Collective called Die Fringe Burlesk!

“Yes – I’m an it again,’’ an unrepentant Gardner said.

It was a burlesque performance at the 2009 Fringe which put Gardner on the wrong side of then multicultural affairs minister John Hargreaves and saw him ultimately lose the helm of the festival, until he was reappointed by current minister Joy Burch for next year’s event.

We’ll just have to wait and see if it, ahem, ruffles feathers again.

“There are some really great things planned for the return of Fringe to Civic Square – live music, comedy, dance, performance art and much more. Just you wait!’’ Gardner said.
