ACT Policing, along with several local and interstate emergency response agencies, are in training in the Namadgi National Park, south of Canberra.
They started Friday afternoon and will finish on Sunday night.
Sergeant Stephen Cooke, in charge of AFP Search and Rescue, said that it was vital to test police and emergency services aptitude with realistic, real-time scenarios.
''The aim is to test the capabilities of our teams in responding to these sorts of incidents,'' Sergeant Cooke said.
''Working with several agencies allows a holistic training approach and more realistic environment for all emergency response personnel involved.''
He said the remote location meant that there was little mobile phone reception.
''A rescue helicopter will be used as part of the exercise to simulate medical evacuation.
''This will be supported by an ACT Ambulance Flight Paramedic.''
