A woman has been taken to hospital with neck injuries after she was trapped in her car in a four-vehicle crash on the Barton Highway on Tuesday afternoon.

The Emergency Services Agency said intensive care paramedics were treating the 32-year-old woman as firefighters worked to cut her free from the wreckage at Kinleyside, north of Gold Creek.

The female driver was freed from her car and stabilised at the scene as of 6.06pm, and was taken to Calvary Hospital in a stable condition with a neck injury. A 34-year-old male driver was also taken to Calvary Hospital with neck pain.

Traffic on the highway could not turn right onto Kuringa Drive, while cars travelling north along Kuringa Drive could not turn right onto the Barton Highway, as tow trucks were called to the scene.

The road was cleared and re-opened as of 7.55pm.

The ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire & Rescue were called to the collision on the corner of the Barton Highway and Clarrie Hermes Drive at 5.20pm.
