The ACT Supreme Court trial of Frank John Fischetti, 54, entered its second day on Thursday, and the prosecution continued its lengthy opening to the jury on the complex case.

Fischetti is alleged to have fraudulently used six falsified documents to apply to the NAB bank for a home loan.

The application for $1.4 million was for a home in Nicholls.

Prosecutor Margaret Jones told the jury that Fischetti was in the process of being evicted from another Canberra home, providing a motive for the alleged fraud.

Ms Jones said Fischetti was bankrupt, receiving Centrelink payments, and was earning very little.

"One might surmise it's difficult to entice a bank to loan $1.4 million in those circumstances," she said.

Fischetti is accused of forging signatures, making up figures on financial statements, and using the name of another man in the application.

"The Crown case is it's all fiction," Ms Jones said.

He got preliminary approval from the bank, but was never paid out.

Fischetti is also accused of defrauding a photocopy business owner of $195,000.

It is alleged he met the CopyQik store owner while copying documents.

The pair became friends over a two-year period, and Fischetti brought his wife and children into the store to meet the man.

Prosecutors allege that Fischetti flashed a $3.19 million boat contract in front of the man for copying, as part of a calculated effort to appear wealthy and successful.

He allegedly later told Fischetti about property investments in Queensland that he could be a part of.

The man transferred $195,000 to bank accounts the Crown allege were connected to Fischetti, expecting returns of 50 to 100 per cent.

He never saw the money again.

Fischetti is alleged to have spent the money on groceries, restaurants, and other expenses, while withdrawing portions of it as cash.
