Photographic editor Karleen Minney said photographers looking to enter The Canberra Times Autumn Photo Competition should not shy from including people and animals in their pictures as they look to capture the essence of autumn.
''Your family, your pets all make autumn special, too,'' she said. ''Canberra is uniquely beautiful in autumn; it's different in everybody's eyes.''
She said the key to a great entry was trying to present something ''we haven't seen before'' - be it a photo of your family or friends enjoying the season, or a special scene Canberrans might not otherwise get to see.
To enter, email your photo with a caption and your contact details to photocomp@canberratimes.com.au. Images should be between 150Kb and 1Mb in size, and each photographer can enter a maximum of three images. The competition closes on Friday, May 31.
