A former hairdresser jailed for child sex offences took away part of his 13-year-old victim's childhood, a court has heard.
Justice Richard Refshauge yesterday sentenced Kimrae Fortaleza to 6 years in prison, with a non-parole period of three years, for crimes against two teenage victims.
The 22-year-old will be eligible for parole in November 2013, taking into account time already served in protective custody at the territory's jail.
The ACT Supreme Court judge said that while Fortaleza had reasonably good prospects for rehabilitation, the crimes were serious.
The judge said Fortaleza's attempt to blame one of the victims, arguing she made the complaint to get him locked up in revenge for hacking her Facebook page, was concerning.
The prisoner pleaded guilty to eight counts of having sexual intercourse with a person between the ages of 10 and 16, and admitted to another six sex offences.
Seven of the charges against Fortaleza relate to the same victim, who was just 13-years-old at the time of the incidents in 2009.
Fortaleza was 20-years-old.
The judge noted while the girl was a willing participant in sex there was evidence she became increasingly uncomfortable with his advances.
In a victim impact statement tendered in court the victim stated: ''When he started having sex with me I was confused and did not know what to do.''
''I feel that part of my childhood was taken from me.''
Fortaleza also admitted having sex with a 14-year-old girl on one occasion after his relationship with the younger victim ended.
