Gary Kent, pictured, is taking action against the party for failing to supply documents regarding the ACT division's financial status and its controversial federal preselection in February. It is due to be heard by the tribunal on October 8.
But the party has launched its own disciplinary action against Mr Kent over his push to have the February Senate preselection of former ACT opposition leader Zed Seselja overturned.
Mr Kent faces a disciplinary hearing before the party's management committee on Tuesday evening.
He said he was concerned he would be expelled and that his ACAT case would collapse as a result. The Canberra Liberals declined to comment on Friday. The party plans to discipline Mr Kent for a range of rule breaches, including publicly criticising members of the management committee and distributing material to the party membership. He is also accused of disrupting the party's federal election campaign, bringing the party into disrepute and of being disloyal.
A range of personal complaints by party members about Mr Kent's behaviour have also been lodged.
Mr Kent is pursuing documents through the ACAT about the preselection process and the party's financial status.
It has been reported this year the party was carrying debts of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Mr Kent claims he has been repeatedly denied access to the documents.
