Police released CCTV vision of the man believed to have stolen a car and ram raided the Kingston Hotel.
A stolen car was used to ram the roller doors to a southside bottle shop before it was burgled in the early hours of Monday morning.
ACT Policing said about 12.05am, a white Holden ute was reversed into the roller doors of the Kingston Hotel bottle shop, smashing into it three times to create a hole.
A man entered the bottle shop through the hole before walking out with alcohol.
‘‘The offender was able to get inside the bottle shop, he’s taken a small amount of alcohol and then left the area,’’ acting Superintendent Greg O’Ryan said.
‘‘He’s caused significant damage, about $30,000 of damage to the store,’’ he said.
The man was described as wearing black tracksuit pants, a blue hooded jumper and white sneakers.
Police believe the vehicle was stolen late on Sunday night from a 7/11 service station in Braddon.
Anyone who witnessed the ram raid, or who can identify the man in the CCTV footage, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The Woolworths supermarket in Dunlop was ram raided in mid-March, but police do not believe there is a rising trend. ‘‘These types of offences occur on occasion, I haven’t seen anything to suggest that we’ve had any more than usual,’’ acting Superintendent O’Ryan said.
