The 30-hectare burn will take two to three days, weather permitting, and burn piles of forest debris.
A Territory and Municipal Services spokeswoman said smoke was expected to drift over the ACT throughout the burn.
ACT Parks and Conservation fire managers will oversee the burn alongside trained firefighters, while staff will monitor the burn site until smoke has not been visible for 24 hours.
People with asthma and other chronic respiratory or cardiac diseases have been urged to avoid vigorous exercise and to stay inside if affected by the smoke.
