Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said the funding, an addition to the $400 million for health capital works in the budget, would be used for ongoing projects, including the redevelopment of the Canberra Hospital and the Calvary Public Hospital birth centre.
Ms Gallagher said $5 million would go towards expanding the nurse-led walk-in centres to Belconnen and Tuggeranong and $20 million would be used to fit out wards at Calvary and Canberra Hospitals with the additional beds ACT has promised to provide if elected.
The $250 million will also pay for a community health centre in the city, a new clinical services building at the Canberra Hospital and extra parking at both Canberra and Calvary hospitals.
''It will be spread across a range of projects. We haven't got the final costings on each individual project, but this is a fund that will be used to progress each one of them,'' Ms Gallagher said.
''This is part of our health policy announcements - it's the health infrastructure plan, $250 million over four years going to continuing to rebuild the health system.''
ACT Labor announced $37 million yesterday to upgrade ACTION buses and supply extra services.
The Chief Minister said a re-elected Labor government would supply an extra 20 buses and services to the busiest ACTION routes and more Rapid services.
Ms Gallagher said there would also be six fare-free days to encourage Canberrans to try out the territory's bus services.
The Canberra Liberals announced their planning policy yesterday, promising to release more land in town centres for housing and to review legislation on dual occupancies.
Liberals leader Zed Seselja said a Liberals government would make building more efficient by re-establishing an independent planning authority and by ''reviewing ActewAGL monopoly provisions as they affect construction''.
''We will also task Infrastructure Canberra with identifying a strategy for the delivery of thousands of new car parks,'' he said. ''We want to give Canberra the best local government in Australia.''
