A series of prisoner complaints, about the lack of noodles, damaged eggs, a painful left thumb, and rude guards, have been revealed in documents publicly released through the freedom of information process.

The nine complaint forms from July, August, and September last year give a snapshot of some of the issues troubling prisoners at the AMC.

One detainee complained about the food he was allowed in prison.

"I don't eat the majority of food in which the AMC prepairs [sic], so I would like it fixed for me," the prisoner wrote.

When asked what outcome the detainee was seeking through his complaint, he wrote:

"To get noodels [sic]. I don't eat the majority of food and im hungry."

Other complaints appeared, on face value, more serious.

One complained of bullying by an individual guard, who was said to have relentlessly made the detainee's life harder.

"I don't disrespect her, I try to take a mature, logic, reasonable approach to her and what I ask of her, but constantly get the same result."

That complaint ended up being completely resolved, with the detainee happy with the result, according to the internal complaints documents.

In August, a prisoner complained of lengthy delays in obtaining medical treatment for his left thumb.

"If, as appears to be the case, there has been an unjustified delay in booking these tests, the problem should be fixed so that it does not happen again," the detainee wrote.

The outcome of that complaint was redacted in the documents released under freedom of information.

One detainee complained about being thrown into a cupboard bench by a guard, the documents show.

The prisoner described the guard as a "standover prick who is cocky and has no reason to touch me".

That complaint was discussed with the detainee, who was happy with the result and withdrew the complaint.

In September, an inmate complained of the way a group was searched, noting that it caused damage to personal and prison property.

The detainee said sauce, herbs, noodles, eggs, custard powder, butter, and milo had been poured out or damaged.

"We understand we in Jail & searches are necesery [sic] But the way in which we were treated & the Damage & mess they made was not apropiete[sic]," the inmate wrote.
