They had planned to work through Tuesday night to tackle the blaze, but managed to extinguish it shortly after 1am on Wednesday.
An Emergency Services Agency spokesperson said the process had been sped up by the site owner, who helped by breaking up rubbish piles with a dozer.
The spokesperson said two tankers would remain at the tip throughout Wednesday to monitor the scene.
The fire was not near any Mr Fluffy demolition waste.
When the fire broke out on Tuesday night, ACT Fire & Rescue sent one pumper, two tankers and two commanders to the scene.
The ACT Rural Fire Service assisted with four heavy tankers, while the ACT State Emergency Service also helped out with a lighting tower.
The fire caused smoke to the west of the ACT.
