Wamboin wine exporter Greg Corra has seen his revenue grow rapidly without sending a single bottle to the US.

"We currently have 40 clients in China, and with some of them we set the price at 93 US cents, and they're contracts written in US dollars," he said.

"Most of these people don't pay until 120 days after delivery, so the benefits you see are huge from the drop – we're making exceptional profits now."

The Australian dollar was worth US93¢ in September and has fallen to 78¢, a small bounce from 76¢ earlier this month, the lowest rate in six years.

Profits from the shift in currency value also meant the company could offer more incentives and market itself more aggressively, leading to increased units being bought.

Mr Corra said his company, Inland Trading Co, had increased its profitability by at least 10 per cent over the same period, but as an exporter to four continents had to keep an eye on dozens of currencies, with those outside Asia less affected by US currency moves.

"If you sit and look at the Canadian dollar, the Euro, we've actually gone the other way," he said.

"You take the good and the bad."

The company, formed in 1996 and now with a workforce of seven, including Mr Corra and his wife, exports 3.6 million bottles of wine a year from Australian, New Zealand and South African producers to 25 different countries.

About 35 per cent of the wine ended up in the rapidly growing Chinese market.

Despite being ACT-registered, the company ships all products – which include offerings from regional winery Clonakilla – from warehouses in Sydney and Adelaide.

Canberra Business Chamber chief executive Chris Faulks said a growing number of ACT companies who exported would benefit from the lower dollar.

Mr Corra said he placed little confidence in forecasters who tipped the Australian currency would fall to US70¢, but a further interest rate cut would likely lead to that result.
