Saed Harmouche, 23, appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday morning, charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm. Police allege he assaulted a 27-year-old man inside Canberra's Meche nightclub on Northbourne Avenue.
Police said in a statement that they arrived at the nightclub about 3.40am on Sunday, July 21.
They allege a man was found unconscious inside the venue. Paramedics took him to Canberra Hospital.
Harmouche entered a plea of not guilty to the charge during a brief appearance in court on Friday.
He also applied to vary his bail, removing a condition that required him to report regularly to police.
Harmouche has no prior record, the court heard, and was born and raised in Canberra.
Magistrate Peter Dingwall said it was not appropriate to force Harmouche to report to police, simply because the charge was serious.
The matter will be back before court in February.
