ACT Policing alleges the duo entered the backyard of a Ross Smith Crescent property and forced entry through a side sliding door about 2pm.
The homeowner arrived a short time later and found the two, a 27-year-old Queanbeyan man and a 14-year-old Florey teenager, inside the house.
The duo fled with a number of stolen items via the backyard. They left the scene in a maroon Mazda 323.
Police took statements from the homeowner and neighbours and searched the area. They found the car and the alleged offenders in Macgregor a short time later.
The man and teenager will appear in court Monday morning charged with property offences.
