Man arrested over serious Braidwood assault

A man suffered serious injuries to his head, legs and chest after an alleged violent assault near Braidwood on Saturday.

NSW police were called to Nerriga Road in Braidwood about 10.50am, and found a 42-year-old man lying on the ground next to a car.

The man had serious injuries and was treated by NSW Ambulance Service paramedics, before being taken to The Canberra Hospital.

Police cordoned off the home, and early investigations led them to a second home in Durran Durra, just to the north-east of Braidwood.

They allege the man was assaulted at the Durran Durra home, before he was found back in Braidwood by police.

Officers conducted forensic examinations of the Durran Durra home, and arrested a 41-year-old Durran Durra man at a local pub less than two hours after the alleged assault, at 12.15pm.

He was charged at Queanbeyan Police Station with assault inflicting grievous bodily harm. He was refused bail and was expected to appear before Queanbeyan Local Court on Sunday, February 10.
