Man charged with cheating a casino by trick

A 34-year-old man has been charged with two counts of cheating a casino by trick and two other counts of cheating.

Manwinder Arora appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday morning and the matter was adjourned until February 19.

According to the charges, Arora dishonestly stole chips by "sleight of hand" and also obtained chips by trickery.

If found guilty of the rare charge, Arora could face a maximum of five years' imprisonment under Section 108 of the Casino Control ACT 2006.

Australian Federal Police documents show only one incident of cheating a casino by trick was reported to ACT Policing between 2000 and 2010.
