Emergency crews were called to the accident about 200 metres north of Sulwood Drive in Kambah just after midday.
City bound lanes are closed and police are diverting traffic onto Namatjira Drive.
An ESA spokesman said the driver was treated for head injuries at the scene before being taken to the Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
