Man hospitalised with eye injury after Civic assault

A man was left with serious damage to his eye after an assault in Civic in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Two male victims were walking through the Pitts Street car park at about 2.30am when one of them saw a man sitting in the gutter, a spokesperson for ACT Police said.

When the victim asked if he was OK, the man stood up and became aggressive.

The men apologised and continued on their way when they saw the man following behind.

A short time later he assaulted one of the men before turning on the other man, punching him in the face.

The second victim sustained serious damage to his left eye and was taken by ambulance to Calvary Hospital for treatment after police were alerted. 


The victims approached security staff at Mooseheads to report the assault by the unknown man.

The alleged offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, with a stocky build, light brown hair and light brown stubble on his face.

He was wearing a light-coloured T-shirt with a word tattooed on his chest.

Police conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate him.
