James Craig was jailed in the ACT Supreme Court this morning after pleading guilty to 66 fraud offences committed while already on parole for similar crimes.

The 39-year-old stole a credit card out of a person's letterbox last year and went on a spending spree, purchasing goods worth $110,000 in just two weeks.

Craig took the card while the rightful owner was overseas, activated it at a bank and used it to make purchases – including cars – and ATM withdrawals.

Justice John Burns today said Craig was a repeat offender with a long-standing drug abuse problem, and authorities assessed him as a high risk of reoffending.

The judge said the man's lengthy record, which largely included dishonesty offences, entitled him to no leniency.

Craig is already serving a 15-month jail term after Magistrate Beth Campbell convicted him in May this year for a $1500 stolen credit card spree.

He was due to be released in February 2012 at the earliest.

Justice Burns said the crimes were both premeditated and planned.

He sentenced him to four years, with a non-parole period expiring in February 2016.
