The Canberra real estate agent who sold the record-breaking Forde property with a circus-themed open house says he is a fan of American shows Million Dollar Listing New York and Million Dollar Listing Miami where those kinds of stunts are routine.

But Nick Slater says the shows didn't inspire his outlandish open home for the five-bedroom property at 15 Quinane Avenue which this week sold for $2.035 million.
Slater says other sellers have already contacted him to have their property marketed in the same way.
"Watch out for the next one. There may or may not be a real tiger there. You heard it here first," he told us.
The Go! channel in Australia broadcasts the Million Dollar Listing franchise which shows real estate agents in New York, Miami and Los Angeles trying to outdo each other, often with stunt-driven open homes.
In showy Miami, one open house even featured synchronised swimmers in the pool.
Mr Slater won plenty of attention for his open house in Canberra featuring a Cirque du Soleil-theme which was not a million miles away from what is seen on the TV shows.
"A lot of people have drawn the comparison," he said.
"I am a fan of the shows. I don't think there would be many agents who aren't fans.
"But, no, I wouldn't say that's where I got the idea. It was more from the fact that people in Canberra are obsessed by property and we really wanted to provide an experience that was a bit more fun."
Whatever the case, the open house worked, with Mr Slater saying even rival agents have been ringing to congratulate him and pick his brains on the next big extravaganza.
