The 16-year-old, who cannot be named, is now charged with four counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
The charges stem from a discovery of a number of dog carcasses in a patch of grassland in north Canberra.
The teen is alleged to have killed the dogs between November and February.
The boy has been in custody since late last month. He did not apply for bail in the ACT Childrens Court this morning.
Prosecutor Louise Taylor told the court a forensic mental health report had been prepared. The boy's lawyer said he needed more time to consider the details of the new allegations against his client.
Magistrate Karen Fryar adjourned the matter until later this month.
