A mother and son who became stranded while hiking through the Perisher Valley overnight have been airlifted to safety.

The 52-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son were bushwalking near Mount Kosciuszko yesterday.
They encountered difficulties and became stranded, using a mobile phone to call emergency services.
Police had last heard from the pair at 2am this morning.
Earlier this afternoon, a NSW Ambulance Service spokeswoman said rescue crews knew their location, and were expecting to reach them this afternoon.
The pair have now been airlifted from the site to a nearby access road. Neither required medical attention.
The search for the mother and son was slowed by difficult conditions and poor weather.
The Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter re-joined the search this afternoon after being diverted away about lunchtime.
