Police say the man was first spotted speeding around 12.15pm on a Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle on the Monaro Highway.
Officers pulled the motorcyclist over and he returned a positive breath screening test before being taken to Woden Police Station for a full breath analysis.
The man’s licence was immediately suspended by police although he was later caught drink driving on the Monaro Highway near Canberra Avenue around 11.40pm.
Police say the motorcyclist was taken to City Police Station where he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.087.
The Theodore man was arrested and charged with drink driving, dangerous driving, speeding, and driving without a license.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
Traffic Operations Station Sergeant Rod Anderson said this kind of behaviour was "absolutely stupid", especially at dangerous speeds.
“Impaired drivers pose the highest risk on our roads and are over represented in serious injury and fatal collisions,” he said.
"Drivers should know by now not to drink and drive."
