The popular Twitter account for Bryce England - who tweeted photographs of the rescue helicopter, including on missions - has been closed without explanation.
The closure has come as a surprise to the Snowy Hydro SouthCare fund, which regarded his tweets as positive public relations for the essential rescue service.
It prompted the formation of a Facebook page Bring Back Bryce- but that account was closed on Wednesday night.
Mr England is employed by the Canada-based multinational CHC Helicopter, which has refused to clarify whether it directed him to take down the account, saying only that his Twitter account was private and its removal was up to him.
There has been a suggestion that Mr England might have pulled the account because he needed to get approval from his employers before each photograph was published and it all became too hard.
Mr England recently featured on the front page of The Canberra Times in a selfie he took while flying in the cabin of the helicopter. There has been no suggestion the Twitter account was closed because of safety concerns.
Mr England's photographs were generally of the helicopter while landed on missions.
Owen Finegan, the chief executive officer of the Snowy Hydro SouthCare rescue helicopter fund, said it supported Mr England's Twitter account.
''As far as PR goes, we've got limited resources and he was a welcome addition to the PR team,'' Mr Finegan said. ''It allows us to highlight the nature of the work the helicopter performs.''
The Facebook page is campaigning for the return of Mr England's Twitter account. ''We are currently trying to establish the reason that the @BryceEngland15 twitter account was shut down,'' the page says.
''When we know something, you will know something. In the meantime, please share this page around and invite your friends and let's see if we can't get this Twitter account back online and continue to raise the profile of this vital rescue service.''
CHC Helicopter is contracted to provide aeromedical helicopter services to ACT and South East NSW Aeromedical Service Limited, the operating company which is a joint venture between the ACT and NSW governments.
Andre Coia, the general operations manager for Australia and south-east Asia at CHC Helicopter, directed The Canberra Times to the company's communications manager.
The spokeswoman would not answer explicitly whether there were directions from the company to Mr England to close his Twitter account.
''The Twitter feed is a personal account. It's not related to CHC in any way,'' she said. ''We won't be commenting any further.''
When asked if the company supported Mr England using the Twitter account, the spokeswoman said: ''As I said, it was a personal Twitter account and not related to CHC.'' When asked if the company would have an issue with Mr England resurrecting his Twitter feed, the spokeswoman said: ''What Bryce chooses to do with his private Twitter account, is Bryce's decision.''
Asked if strict social-media guidelines by CHC Helicopter had prompted Mr England to close the account, the spokeswoman said: ''CHC won't be commenting further on this issue.''
