Planning Minister Mick Gentleman is to launch the ''DA Finder App'' for smartphones and tablets using Apple and Android software on Friday.
Mr Gentleman said the app would make the process of searching for development applications much easier.
Users will be able to search development applications using the app's locator pins or by typing the suburb or street.
They can also register one or more areas of interest in Canberra and the app will notify them when an application has been notified.
''As the ACT government moves towards a digital Canberra, initiatives such as the DA Finder App are a fantastic example of how new data management and distribution techniques can help Canberrans to have their say on planning matters'' Mr Gentleman said.
While the information will be sent to phones and tablets, development applications will still be notified in the newspaper.
Canberrans will have access to the free app from Friday.
