Attorney-General Simon Corbell said new territory laws passed on Tuesday would benefit parents in making decisions about their children drinking alcohol underage.

The Liquor Amendment Bill was designed to remove a loophole about the supply of liquor to children and young people on private premises.
Mr Corbell said the change would help bring the territory into line with most other Australian states and territories on the issue.
"New secondary supply offences will prohibit the supply of liquor or low-alcohol liquor to children and young people by anyone other than a parent or guardian or someone authorised by a parent or guardian on private property or land.
"A parent, guardian, or someone authorised, will still be allowed to supply liquor on private property so long as it is done in a responsible manner."
The law also includes changes to provisions requiring holders of licences and permits to be suitable people to participate in the liquor industry. The Commissioner for Fair Trading will be given better access to information about people who could have a significant influence on a licensee or permit-holder.
The disclosure of criminal intelligence about applicants for licences or permits will also be allowed, while the functions and membership of the ACT Liquor Advisory Board will also be changed.
Mr Corbell said the broader membership would include the Victims of Crime Commissioner, and representatives with expertise on health effects, young people and off-licensees.
He said the changes would "allow the board to have a greater focus on strategic issues, and the range of responses that can contribute to addressing alcohol-related harms."
