All of Canberra's federal Labor politicians will be preselected unopposed to contest the federal election next year.

At close of nominations on Friday, no challengers had emerged to run against Andrew Leigh to contest the seats of Fraser, Gai Brodtmann in Canberra or Kate Lundy in the Senate.

The second place on the party's Senate ticket will be taken by long-time activist and former Legislative Assembly candidate Chris Sant.

A ballot, which had been scheduled for December, is now no longer required.

The process will not be officially concluded until the General Returning Officer's report is approved in December and the candidates are officially endorsed.
