Young Canberrans set off on grand egg hunts yesterday morning across the city, in backyards, parks - and even cemeteries.
Eager children scoured the grounds at St John the Baptist's Church in Reid for its concealed sweet treasures. Its rector, the Reverend Paul Black, said the Anglican church attracted about 250 worshippers.
''It's a fun day for the children, but we have the Easter message, too.''
Mr Black said the historic, picturesque site drew families from across Canberra.
''We're very fortunate at St John's. We have the beauty and history of these old buildings, but we also try to be contemporary and relevant for young families.''
