The name better reflected what the organisation is and does, VisitCanberra said in a statement on its website, with none of the glitz of last week's CBR brand launch.
"It gives clarity for both international and domestic markets and puts the focus squarely on the visitor experience," it said.
"For many years we have been using VisitCanberra as the call to action for our website and social media accounts, so it makes sense to consumers that the organisation has a similar name.''
A single logo has been designed to market the organisation to consumers and for corporate communications.
The new, predominantly blue logo - in contrast to the ''confident, bold and ready'' yellow - can be obtained by emailing visitcanberra@act.gov.au
