The estate's smokehouse was engulfed by fire on Wednesday night, destroying millions of dollars worth of stock and equipment.

ACT Fire and Rescue said although extensive damage meant the cause of the fire could not be determined, the incident was not deemed suspicious.

Fortunately for Canberra fans of the estate's award-winning smoked bacon, owner Rowan Brennan said production was already being shifted to the group's farm and orders had been put in for pork.

He predicted a week's lag as people bought out the existing smoked products on supermarket shelves, and production caught up.

"That's what I did, I went straight to the farm ... I certainly grabbed a few packets [of bacon] for myself," Mr Brennan said.

He praised and thanked the firefighters and the ACT community who had shown support since the fire on Wednesday night.

Mr Brennan said people had contacted him offering rent-free spaces for production.

He said he was humbled by the support and described Canberra as one of the "warmest places you could know".

"Obviously it is devastating when you have anything of your own that is destroyed by any means, but I feel more sorry for our team as we were hoping to export at the end of the year," he said.

"They love what they do and Pialligo is all about our clients and our team. We will sort out how we can get our processes going.

"We are fairly lucky in that we have a lot of supportive people in good ideal places, from real estate to the food industry, that we can call on."

He said he was extremely thankful no one was inside the Hume facility when the fire started.

Mr Brennan arrived at the building at about 7pm on Wednesday night to find flames billowing out of his Hume smokehouse, and the building appeared black and burnt.

"The only thing that was looking okay was the smoker," he said.

"We sort of joked about how that looked."

He praised the work of ACT Fire and Rescue, who were forced to battle much of the blaze from outside because of the fierce flames.

"We are big supporters of the fire brigades and we donate very heavily to them, especially rural [firefighters]," Mr Brennan said.

"Their amazing work last night indicated why it is all worthwhile supporting them. They are just amazing."

ACT Fire and Rescue were called to the fire on the corner of Sheppard Street and Raws Crescent shortly before 6.40pm and spent several hours extinguishing the flames before monitoring it overnight.

All of the estate's smoking was done at the smokehouse in Hume, including their salmon, ham and award-winning bacon.

The Hume facility also stocked wine and other goods for the Pialligo Estate Farmhouse restaurant, located in Pialligo.
