As part of a special event to coincide with the opening of the snow season and the centenary of Canberra, a winter wonderland was created during the battle between the Canberra Raiders and the Brisbane Broncos.
The stadium's western forecourt was transformed with fresh snow and toboggans brought more than 200 kilometres from Perisher, in what could become an annual pilgrimage.
Spectators enjoyed hot chocolate and roast chestnuts, bolstering them against cool temperatures hovering at less than 10 degrees, with strong winds.
Raiders chief executive Don Furner said the match was the fifth in a series of special centenary events, celebrating the contribution sport makes to the city.
"It's a huge year for Canberra in 2013 as the city celebrates its centenary and the Raiders are proud to have this match dedicated to the centenary celebrations," Mr Furner said.
"It's great to have Perisher on board to supply us with some snow for our first winter game of the season and provide the full family entertainment package for fans that come along to the game night."
