When Emily Guillot takes her daughters, Madeline and Evie, for walks in Pialligo, along Beltana Road she is forced to share the roads with passing trucks.

"There's no where for us to walk. I have to push the pram on the road," Ms Guillot said.

The pram bogs in the dirt or ditches alongside the road, leaving Ms Guillot no alternative.

"Truck drivers will drive past and abuse me for walking along the road," she said.

"They see this area as an industrial area. They don't think that people actually live here."

In a master plan published in 2013, the ACT government found Beltana Road and Kallaroo Road needed a safer and attractive pedestrian environment, and parking issues needed to be addressed.

"Beltana Road is challenging to walk along due to traffic issues and the lack of walking paths," the report said.

But Pialligo Residents Association president Bob Ross, Ms Guillot's father, said nothing had been done to enact the master plan.

"It's a safety issue ... it's dangerous. Nothing has been done," Mr Ross said.

He said a path between Canberra airport and Pialligo was built but not along Beltana and Kallaroo Roads.

"They'd say, 'yes we'll do something', and then they come out and throw a bit of bitumen on the edge of the road, fill a pothole and that's about it," Mr Ross said.

Another concern was Pialligo's weekend visitors didn't heed signs to park parallel along the road, parking nose in and blocking access to the metre of grass on the road side.

This forced residents to walk along the roads.

"Nobody ever polices it," Ms Lindy Ross, Mr Ross' wife, said.

"We always worry that somebody's going to be killed."

Mr Ross said the narrow road had larger trucks driving across the dotted line and people would frequently use the stretch as a drag racing strip.

"I think we're entitled to the basics that most Canberra residents have which is a safe place to walk down," Ms Ross said.
