Residents are being urged not to interfere with the poisoned carrots or caged bait stations, and to keep domestic animals away from the areas to avoid the risk of poisoning.
The program is being undertaken to control the rabbit population.
The pests can cause a loss of vegetation and soil erosion, which can threaten the survival of native birds, mammals and insects.
