Plastic on stove starts apartment fire

February 6, 2012

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a fire in a building on Moore Street, City.

The fire was in a residential apartment on the sixth floor of the Globe on Moore building.

An ACT ESA spokesman said crews had safely evacuated the building's occupants.

The spokesman said the fire started when plastic on a stove top ignited.

The fire caused minimal damage, but two fire pumpers are on the scene with the Bronto Skylift Hydraulic Platform, the breathing apparatus van and a Command vehicle.

Crews were alerted following an automatic fire alarm at 1.28pm.
